Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler engine, blown head gasket, blue spark

Question
Craftsman tractor mower 917.259552. Kohler engine 15.5HP model CV16S.  This engine starts but somewhat begrudgingly and runs about 30 seconds to a minute and then dies.  The pervious owner put a new OEM carb on it trying to solve this problem but it didn't help.  I have an identical mower which runs fine so I switched the carbs.  Same problem and the other mower still runs.  Fuel pump puts out plenty of gas and I put a clear fuel line on and gas is flowing to the carb when the engine is running.  also there is plenty of gas in the bowl when it dies.  I have a good blue spark when I am cranking the engine and my timing light is flashing when the engine is running.  The engine will not restart after it dies not even a sputter however if I wait three or four days   it will start again and go through the same routine. I don't  have a compression checker so I can' tell you if it has good compression.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Kenneth:

Since you have Eliminate the Carburetor as the Cause, then it can be a Damaged Flywheel Key, a Blown Head Gasket or Worn Out Rings. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
