Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small engine with hole in block, bolt and nut, auto parts stores

Question
I have been fixing small engines for a few years now. I have a motorized scooter in which someone dropped off at my house. They told me that their neighbor tried to ride it when they were drunk and crashed. In the outcome of their crash, the impact broke a small hole into the block of the engine. It runs well, but through past experience, I know to not run it with a hole in the block, as engines lose pressure. Though it is a 2-stroke there is no oil in the chamber to leak out. The reason why it is still able to run is because, the crankshaft did not go through the block, the impact created the hole. I am wondering if there is a substance that I can braze over the hole. I don't want to put a bolt through the hole, as it is on the corner of the engine and I cannot affix a bolt and nut to plug it. What can I do?

Answer
Try a product called "JB weld"  it is available at all hardware and auto parts stores.  It is a 2 part epoxy that works about 50% of the time.  That's as good as it gets on engine block repair.

The other option is a welding shop that can heli-arc aluminum.

Are you sure the hole actually penetrated the crankcase.  I can't beleive a 2-stroke could run with a hole in the crankcase.  Mechinacally that is phsically impossible.
