Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh OHV155 (OV490) engine/carburetor problem, adjustment screws, carburetor body

Question
Engine OHV155 204509E from MTD Model 13A6673G118. I believe Carburetor #630034 which became 630034A and is now replaced by 640330. I bought this mower being told it stopped running on day and when he went to start it, the starter wouldn't work. I figure he ruined the starter trying to restart the engine, but it wouldn't start/stay running, etc. Anyway, I have replaced the starter, dropped a few drops of gas or starter fluid in the air intake and it runs until this fuel has been used. I then replaced the fuel lines, taken the bowl and carburetor off and cleaned them with carb cleaner. This carb looks like it has no adjustment what-so-ever. No adjustment screws/needle, etc. If you are unfamiliar with this carb, I can take pictures. I removed a bunch of gunk in the bottom of the bowl, where the blue tube slips in and some more from another place I forget where. I have blown cleaner in every hole I cold fine, but to no avail. It still starts and runs with the addition of fuel to the intake, but quickly dies. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if I've left something out or you have any question. And Thanks In Advance (TIA) (after rereading, the progression isn't necessarily sequence accurate, but everything I have done is listed and still the same result)

Answer
Hello Daniel:

If you Did Not Soak the Carburetor in Carburetor Cleaner, then the Carburetor can Still be and Sounds like the Cause of the Problem.  Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). I have Found that Most People can Use a Breakdown/IPL and Disassemble the Carburetor Enough for Proper Cleaning. You Only have to Remove the Bowl, Float Pin, Float and Needle Valve and Any Adjustment Screws that Go Into the Carburetor Body. The Welch Plugs Do Not have to be Removed. Then Soak the Carburetor Body and Parts in a 1 Gallon Can of Gunk Carburetor Cleaner Overnight. The Can has a Parts Tray Inside it for the Small Parts. Once the Carburetor and Parts are in the Cleaner, you can Replace the Lid for Safety and to Prevent Accidental Spillage. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Parts if Required. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have 2 PDF Site Addys that May Assist you Also. They are; 1- http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf and 2- http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
