Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs 20hp Intek, solinoid, ariens

Question
I have a Ariens Zoom 2048 rider with a Briggs 20hp on it. It will not start, I am getting no fuel to the Carb. I have changed the plugs, put a new fuel filter on, checked the fuel switch on the tanks. Choke moves back and forth and appears to be working.

I have been told that there is an electronic control solinoid on the Carb, if this is bad it will not allow fuel to flow into the system. Is this true and my next question is I can not find a replacement part number for this item if that is what I need. Ariens does not show it on there parts website and I have not been able to find it listed anywhere on a site that carries B&S parts.

Thanks

Answer
If you have a shutoff solenoid it will take the place of the bowl nut (don't know why they call it a nut because it's really a bolt)  it will be on the bottom of the carb and have a couple wires going to it.

My guess is that you have a clogged main jet.  Remove the carb and dissasemble.  Blast everything with a QUALITY carb cleaner and reassemble.

Go to this site to look up your Briggs parts.

If this site doesn't show a fuel solenoid you don't have one.
