Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman DLT3000, craftsman dlt 3000, move transmission

Question
I have a Craftsman DLT 3000, model #917.275820.  When putting the machine into gear it makes and grinding noise and won't move.  Transmission gone completely bad?  I have searched for a replacement transmission -it's an automatic hydro static Peerless LTH2000 with 0006A as a date.  It says silent track on the transmission with another number of 43130501.  The machine was bought in May 2005 and (of course) I was 10 days past the warranty when I called Sears.  Any thoughts on if it may be the transmission and where I could find one?  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Lisa:

This is a 2000-2000-006A Transaxle. It is Rare for this Transaxle to Give Problems this Early, but it Does Happen. Is the Transaxle Full of Fluid? If you are Sure the Grinding is in the Transaxle, then Yes it Needs to be Replaced. This Transaxle May Be Avaliable from Sears as a Complete Assembly. Go to this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Upper Left Search Box and Click Go. Then Visually Verify the Equipment and Click Continue. From this Page you can View Diagrams or Parts Lists for you Equipment. It is Not Avaliable from the Online Parts Outlets as a Complete Assembly, Parts Only. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the p. Then Select Peerless. Then Select To View Parts List Click Here in the Upper Right of the Page. Then Select the Series Transaxle (2000). Then Select the 2000-2000-006A File. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
