Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): chainsaw wont start, arinet, flywheel

Question
I have Poulan 295 chainsaw that was given to me in non operating condition. It appears to be in good condition. When pulling the rope it pulls the piston to the start of the combution stroke but than is to hard to pull in a contiuous motion. Removing the spark plug allows it to pull normally with compression sounds. Removing the muffler makes no difference.

Answer
Hello David:

Have you Checked the Jug and Piston. Look in the Echaust Port. Is the Piston and Cylinder Smooth? If Yes, then Remove the Flywheel and Check the Flywheel Key. If the Flywheel Key is Damaged it Causes the Plug to Fire Either Too Early or Too Late. In this Case it Would be Firing too Early. If the Piston and Cylinder are Not Smooth, then The Scratches or Scoring May be Causing the Piston to Bind in the Jug. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog Poulan/Weed Eater. Then Select the Poulan Pro File. Then Scroll Down to your Model Saw. Then Select the File you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
