Hello Paul - I own a 185 hydrostatic drive John Deere lawn mower with a 38 inch deck and a 17 h.p. Kawasaki motor.  Is there a way to speed up the reverse motion in this lawn mower?  It moves so slowly whenever I am backing up. Thank you for your time.

No adjustments.  Your trans is on borrowed time.
What ever you do don't scrap the tractor for a bad hydro.  The repair will be worth ever penny of the cost. If you have to have a dealer do the repair the parts will be about 700.00 and 2 hours labor. Under 900.00 total. Have you seen what 900.00 buys lately.
