Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Bent shaft, hp vector, murray mower

Question
I have a Tecumseh 5.0 HP Vector Pro engine mounted on a Murray Mower. I struck a large solid 1 inch thick steel rod with my mower which not only destroyed the blade but also bent the mower's down shaft. How hard and expensive is it to repair/replace the down shaft? Thanks, Dale

They are a pain to do and not cost effective depending on the age of the mower, We charge around $165.00- $190.00 to replace a shaft on a walk behind mower. Sometimes you can replace the mower with a new one.for less or a little bit more but you will have a brand new mower
