Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): pressure washer, rusted bolt, walmart

Question
QUESTION: I have 2 year old TroyBilt pressure washer with a B&S engine that's only been used twice. The siphon pump used to mix cleaning solutions with the water has stopped working. Is there an easy way to fix this. I know it's a common problem. I started to buy some miracle spray at walmart, that says it can break loose any rusted bolt, and spray it directly into the pump. Any suggestions?

Thanks

ANSWER: Hello JR:

I Use PB Rust Catalyst to Loosen Rust. For this Problem I Spray PB Into the Pump and Allow it to Set Overnight. Then I Pour Marvel Mystery Oil Into the Pump and Allow that to Stand Overnight. Usually, if the Pump is Not Rusted too Bad, this will Free the Pump and it will Function Properly. If this Does Not Correct the Pump Problem, the Diassemble the Pump and Manually Clean it. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Washer, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. QUESTION: John,

Thanks for the reply. I took a shortcut and removed the manifold from the pump and cleaned everything using the PB product. I didn't see anything that looked like it would be a problem. The only part I couldn't get to was a plastic piece about 1" to 1.5" long inside the high pressur outlet neck. The siphon inlet is located on the outlet neck about midlength of the plastic piece so I had a feeling it's related to my problem. When I put it back together the chemical siphon still does not work. The pump and the high pressue spray have always worked.  The washer is a Troy-Bilt 020207. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
JR
ANSWER: Hello JR:

If this is a 2005 Model Washer. It is Manufactured by MTD. The Model Numbers Should Look Something like this; 41050-01. From your Description, it Sounds like the Solution Filter is Clogged. That is the Plastic Part you Described. It is Part of the Pick Up Hose Assembly. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.buymtdonline.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Home_TroyBilt_10101_19502_ and Select Use Our Detailed Parts Finder. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: I appreciate you patience and assistance!  The washer is a Troy-Bilt model#020207. One site is http://yourpressurewasher.com/020207.html. I have also found info that says it's made by Generac. I believe you mean the plastic filter on the end of the siphon tube. If so, I made sure that was not the cause. Based on the drawings, the plastic piece I'm talking about might be the  'inlet check'. Don't know if it's the cause but it's the only part of the manifold that I couldn't get to to clean. Any other suggestions? If I take it to the shop how much would you expect something like this to cost. Everything works fine but the chemical siphon.

Thanks again for your help and patience!

Answer
Hello Again JR:

I Appoligize. I Typed in Solution Filter by Mistake. The Inlet Check Valve is the Component that I was Speaking Of. If the Inlet Check Valve is Stuck, then the Problem you have will Occur. The Last Generac/Briggs Pressure Washer that was Repaired in the Shop had Been Sitting for a Few Years and had to be Cleaned Completely and the Inlet Check Valve, Chemical Injection Valve and the Chemical Hose were Replaced and/or Rebuilt. I Pulled the Invoice and the Total for the Repairs was; Parts and Accessories $48.17 and Labor $67.50 (1 1/2 Hrs Labor). Don't Forget the Tax. Hope this Helps.
