Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Brand new Honda mower not cutting well, yard machines, home depot

Question
Hi John,
I just bought a new Honda HRR216K3VXA push mower.  The problem is that it leaves "sprigs" of grass everywhere.  I am not a mower expert, but I did check the sharpness of the blades (this is a "twin blade" mower) and the deck to make sure it is level.  This is a self-propelled mower in the "mulch" configuration.  Ironically, when I pull the mower backwards (even pulling very fast), it does not miss a single blade.  I have never had this problem on my previous mower which was just the cheap "home depot" yard machines brand.  Should I return the mower and just go back to the "cheap" brand?

Answer
Hello Brian:

I Hate to Ask But I have to. Are the Blades on Upside Down? From Your Description, it Sounds like the Blades May be Upside Down. The Cutting Edge of the Blades Should be Facing the Engine (Up) and the Flat Non Sharpened Edge will be Facing the Grass. I have had Several Mower in the Shop with this Complaint. Someone Assembled the Mowers and Attached the Blades Upside Down. I will Ask the Shop Personnel if They have Any Further Information and will Follow Up to you if They Do. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

John
