Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs 407777 0126 engine, wd 40, fuel lines

Question
I noticed in a letter to you, a question about a V2 engine that would run evenly on one cylinder. I have same situation, but in your answer, you thought the valves could be bad. Mine has 125 lbs of comp on both cylinders. I have tried a new coil and it acts the same on both cylinders, not running consistently on the bad cylinder. It will hit some of the time at full throttle, but pops and cracks and at idle when I remove the plug wire on the good cylinder, it dies. It acts like a fuel problem. I have replaced the filter with the proper one in the parts book and have replaced the fuel lines. The fuel pump is delivering fuel.

Thanks,

Duane

Answer
Hello Duane:

Use at Least 3 Different Plugs and Ensure Each is a Good Plug. Sometimes a Plug will Fire in the Open But Will Not Fire Under Compression. I went through a Half Box of Plugs too Locate a Good One. Talk About a Bad Day, lol. Have you Checked the Intake Gasket at the Bad Cylinder? Spray Some WD 40 Around the Fitting. If the Engine Starts Firing, then this Gasket is Bad. Use the WD 40 to Check the Intake Manifold for Leaks Between the Carburetor and the Cylinder Head. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
