Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kawasaki Engine sudden loss of power, spark plug wires, kawasaki engine

Question
I have a 25hp Kawasaki FH721V engine on my Cub Caded M60 Tank zero turn, 132 hours.  The engine has been perfect until this week.  When I started it up and engaged the blades, the engine bogged way down.  It seems to have no power under load.  There is a lot of hesitation when accelerating with no load as well.  I replaced the fuel filter and installed new plugs.......no change in performance.  Could it be a faulty fuel pump?  I notice that there is very little fuel in the fuel filter.

Answer
The fuel filter is always empty, it's a physics thing.

Sounds like you have a bad side.  When the engine is running pull 1 of the spark plug wires off.  If the engine changes tone that's not the problem.  If the engine dies or doesn't change tone you have a dead cylinder.  If you pull the wire off and it dies that's the good side.  If you pull the wire and nothing changes that's the bad side.

Test for spark on the bad side, if you have spark pull the valve cover and reinstall the pushrods.  If no spark, replace the coil.
