Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Removing Primer Bulb, engine model, retainer

Question
John, I have a 20" Murray Power Mower with a B&S 3.5 h.p. engine, Model #95,902, Type 310701, Code 94050252

The Primer Bulb has developed a slight crack in it so that it does not work properly any more when I try to prime the motor.

The Primer Bulb is held in place with a plastic ring about 1-inch wide that has 2 slots in it which I'm pretty sure have to do with removing the Primer Bulb.

I have tried, with a small screwdriver, to push, pull, pry up, etc. with no luck.

Could you please tell me exactly how I should go about removing it.

Thank you very much.

Answer
Hello Thomas:

The New Primer Bulb will have a Replacememnt Installing Clip. Ignore the Plastic Ring and Check at the Outer Base of the Primer Bulb. There is a Metal Clip that Hold the Primer Bulb Seated. Use your Screwdriver to Carefully Pry Out the Old Retainer Clip. When Installing the New Bulb and Clip; be Sure the Retainer Clip is Seated Properly Around the Base of the New Bulb. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
