Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower Deck Height Adjustment, riding lawn mower, blade tips

Question
Hello,
I have a 19HP Sear Craftsmen Riding Lawn mower that is approximately 7 years old.  I have the owners manual and instructions on how to adjust and level the cutting deck.  However, what the manual does tell you and what I've been unable to locate is the height adjustments.
For example, there are (6) height adjustments what are they're corosponding heights?  If I set the deck on #6 how many inches off the groud should this be adjusted at?

Today, I can only cut on #6 because setting at a lower level cuts the lawn too low;extremely low.

Any assitance would be appreciated!!

Thank you,
Stephan Frye

Answer
Six isn't a specific height, it's a reference number.  What you are going for is level side to side.  If the mower is to low, raise the adjusters on both sides to raise the deck.  Remember level is the key.  You can't go by the deck shell.  You have to use the blade tips themselves.  The deck is probably not very straight after 7 years.

FYI.... 90% of the time the only reason the deck is out of whack is because of tire pressure. 14 in front, 10 in back. TRY THIS FIRST!
