Question
QUESTION: have a poulan weedeater twistnedge model te475y 25cc
it stopped running found head bolts loose, took apart replace piston ring, will only start when gas sprayed in and chock kept close and throttle full open and then for only a minute or 2. has spark, compression.???

ANSWER: Hello Ed:

Did you Replace the Jug or Deglaze the Old Jug? If you Deglazed the Old Jug, then What was the Ring End Gap On the Deglazed Jug? Was the Arrow on the Piston Pointed Towards the Exhaust Port? When was the Carburetor Cleaned and Rebuilt Last? Thanks.

QUESTION: did not replace jug, did not deglaze old jug, dont know what the gap was, dont know if I put it back together with the attow pointed to the exhaust port because I didnt see or know about the arrow, BUT I did spray out the carburetor and blew it out with canned air.weekend coming guess I need to take it back apart and look for that arrow.

Answer
Hello Again Ed:

Disassemble and Deglaze the Jug. The New Rings Can Not Seat and Hold Proper Compression in the Old Jug Unless Deglazed First. Check the Arrow on the Piston and Make Sure it is Facing the Exhaust Port(if you Removed the Piston and Connecting Rod from the Crankshaft). If the Ring End Gap is Over .030in, then the Jug is Worn and you May Require Oversize Rings. If the Trimmer has Been Sitting for a While, I Suggest you Also  Remove, Disassemble and Soak Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). I have Found that Most People can Use a Breakdown/IPL and Disassemble the Carburetor Enough for Proper Cleaning. You Only have to Remove the Bowl, Float Pin, Float and Needle Valve and Any Adjustment Screws that Go Into the Carburetor Body. The Welch Plugs Do Not have to be Removed. Then Soak the Carburetor Body and Parts in a 1 Gallon Can of Gunk Carburetor Cleaner Overnight. The Can has a Parts Tray Inside it for the Small Parts. Once the Carburetor and Parts are in the Cleaner, you can Replace the Lid for Safety and to Prevent Accidential Spillage. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Parts if Required. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram and Select the Catalog Poulan/Weed Eater. Then Sellect the Weed Eater File. Then Select Gas. Then Select your Model. Then you can Select the Components you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
