Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and Stratton 8 HP Model 195437 Type 0150, briggs and stratton, steering wheel puller

Question
Muffler turns red and engine surges. Adjusted srews on carburator, but it didn't help. Any idea what may cause this or a place to start?  Thanks

Answer
Hello Pete:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. From your description, it Sounds like the Flywheel Key is Damaged and Has the Spark Plug Firing a Little Out of Time. Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover). Remove the Flywheel Nut or Starter Cup (Depends on the Model). Now Attach a Steering Wheel Puller to the Flywheel Using the Threaded Holes in the Flywheel. Tighten the Puller. Now Hit the Puller with a Hammer. Repeat this Procedure Until the Flywheel Pops Up or can be Lifted Off the Crankshaft. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File # 19. Then Select the Folder # 195400. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

Hello Again Pete. Thanks for the Comments. I Failed to Say that IF the Flywheel Key is Good, then the Valves May Require Reseating and Resetting the Valve Clearance. Thanks Again.
