Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mtd mower model 664, joe papa, safety switches
Question20A fuse was blown. replaced it. engine still wont crank over. battery new. suspect solenoid or safety switch? where is safety switch? I have a volt meter.
Thanks,
Joe Papa
AnswerIt is generally easier to follow the wires from the key switch to the safety switches. Follow each wire to each switch. There are usually 3 swtiches, one on the transmission, deck and seat.
If you have one small wire on the soleniod the small wire should have 12 volts DC when you turn the key to the start position. If there is no voltage then either a safety switch or the key switch is causing the problem.
Did replace any parts or work on the mower before the fuse blew?
Let me know.
