Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh enduro TVT691, dual carbs, fuel valve

Question
I replaced the engine on my craftsman riding mower last year with a 22hp tecumseh enduro tvt691, dual carbs.  Hasn't run right since i put it on.  A friend was over the other day and we realized its running on one cylinder since day one.  Dead cylinder has good spark, fuel in carb bowl, plug does get wet.  Runs on starting fluid for a few seconds. switched carbs and dead cylinder runs uneven (surges) only on full choke. "Good" cylinder runs very rough stalls out(with suspect carb) can't find a carb or carb kit for this model.  DO i need a carb/rebuild kit?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

Answer
Hello Tim:

What is the Compression on the Dead Cylinder? Usually you have to Purchase the Parts you Require for the Carburetors Seperately. Most Times you can Reuse All the Components. A Good Ovenight Soak in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk) and Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air is All that is Required. Other than that, If it was Flooding, you would Require a New Fuel Valve (Needle). Send me the OEM and Modle Numbers Off the Carburetors, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. You May have to Purchase the Parts from the Carburetor Manufacturer. You can Locate a Carburetor at This Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ or Call them @ 1-877-707-2787. Since this is a Tecumdseh Engine, I have 2 PDF Site Addys that May Assist you Also. They are; 1- http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf and 2- http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
