Has worked perfectly for years but now not getting gas
took off gas tank and blew out carb and needle valve Gas tank had accumulated alot of rust. why now I dont know
Whats my next move and do you know where I can get a repair manual for this machine?

ANSWER: Hello Lou:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. The Screw with the Spring on the Side of the Carburetor Body is the Air Mxture Screw. When the Carburetor is Cleaned and Being Reassembled, this Screw is Set as Follows. Turn the Idle Air Screw In Until it Stops **DO NOT JAM** Now reverse this Screw 1 1/2 Turns. You can Purchase a Repair Manual from this Site Addy, http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0& and Scroll Down and Select Repair Manuals, CDs and Books.  Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Thanks for your help, Engine is running fine BUT
When I disconnected the linkages I thought I made a reasonable drawing where things go. Now I need help especially the throttle linkage. Is there a picture somewhere that will show all this?
Thanks again
Lou
ANSWER: Hello Again Lou:

If it Helps Any; The Throttle Cable Moves a Pivot that has a Spring Attached to the Governor Arm. The Solid Link is Connected from the Governor Arm to the Throttle Control on the Carburetor. When the Throttle Cable is Moved from Idle to Full Throttle the Spring Pulls the Governor Arm and Opens the Throttle Valve in the Carburetor. Hope this Helps. QUESTION: Thank you for your help
Got the briggs running great.
Now I have another question
I have a small old echo trimmer that is running good but it uses a tank of gas in less than 7 minutes.
Is there a solution? Do I need to adjust the needle valve, or what would you suggest?

Answer
Hello Again Lou:

Clad I was Able to Assist. Now. Wow!!! That is a Lot of Fuel Mix. With that Kind of Fuel Consumption, you Should See Some Excess Somewhere. If the Carburetor is Feeding that Much into the Cylinder and the Engine Can Run, then Check the Muffler. If Should be Saturated with Fuel Mix. If the Exhaust is Clean, then Look for Another Leak Somewhere in the Tank or the Fuel Lines. If the Muffler is Saturated, then Reset the Metering Needle in the Carburetor. Hope this Helps.
