Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs 5 hp push mower, butterfly valve, deisel engine

QUESTION: my mower starts with a prime and does right out 5 sec then does start unless u prime then dies out 5 sec i have check everything water in lines or tank plugs even though i knew is wasn't that new air filter cleaned carb. it looks like the butterfly valve in the the carb closes after it starts causing mower to die there is some kind of spring and small rob that looks like it goes to fly wheel iam going nuts any sugg. i need help

It wasn't the coil DEREK.  Nice spelling on that reply by the way. It was kind of hard for this Experet to figue out.  Your mower couldn't have run for 5 seconds, or as long as you primed it if you had a bad coil.  Bad coil means NO SPARK !  Unless you have a deisel engine on your mower you have to have SPARK.  The hunk of crap you missed when you cleaned the carb finally made it's way through the jet.

I might not be an expert to you,  and I know!! I'm an ASS.  But you are the one who just wasted his beer money on a coil he didn't need.
