Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh 10hp on coleman 5000 maxa, air hole, maxa

Question
Is there an easy way to start these engines?  It seems very hard to start when cold.  Once it has been running and refueled, it starts pretty easily.  When cold, it really beats me up.  Starting fluid does help, but I did not think that should be norm.
Thank you.

Answer
Hello Quentin:

I had to Remove the Choke Valve and Manufacture a Choke Plate. I Own 2 of these Engine and the Problem is in the Choke Plate or the Choke Port. There is a Large Air Hole in the Choke Plate. I Closed Mine Off and the Engine Fires Right Up. Please Understand that this was on MY OWN MOWER and was Done as a Last Resort. I Think that Some of the Carburetors for these Engines May have a Problem in the Choke Port (too Small Maybe?), I Really Do Not Know. All I can Tell you is What I have Discovered About this Situtation. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
