Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Troy-Built Chipper CS4210, shaft length, hello mike

Question
Dear Sir, I own a TB MDL CS4210 chipper 10HP Tecumseh engine. It vibrated the oil cap off during operation, resulting in a damaged crank / engine. Looking for a replacement engine. Are Briggs engines interchangeable or any other suggestions welcomed. Purchased used for great price. Trying to salvage a good deal. Thanks in advance for your time. Sincerely, Mike

Answer
Hello Mike:

Most Engine Makes will Interchange. If the Shaft Length and Diameter are the Same; and the HP is Close (example: 3hp - 5hp B&S Interchange with 3hp - 5hp Tecumseh, Honda and Other Makes). If the Engine was Running Good, and the Crank or Piston was Damaged; I Suggest you Look Into a Short Block. I have had Excellent Service Out of Short Blocks and the Expense is Reasonable.  Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

John
