Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman, kohler ohv, ohv motor

Hi. Total automotive idiot here. I have a Craftsman LT 1000 16 HP 42" Riding Lawn Tractor, Model 917.272060 with a Kohler OHV Motor. The battery won't stay charged, if I leave it sit a week, its dead. Its like it is sapping the juice back out of the battery. Where do I start to fix this?

Hello Marci:

Have the Battery Checked for a Weak or Dead Cell. If a Cell is Weak or Dead; the Dead/Weak Cell will Drain the Battery and it will Not Stay Charged. If the Battery is Good, then Check the Ignition Switch. If the Battery is JustNot Being Charged, then the Stator (charger) or the Regulator May be Bad. Hope this Helps.
