Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Riding Mower, craftsman riding mower, vapor lock

Question
I have a Craftsman 16 hp mower - model 917.2720601 with a Kohler engine.  I just changed oil and filter, air filter and fuel filter.  The mower will run fine for 10 to 15 min and then shut off.  The new fuel filter is a clear plastic and when it shuts off there is no gas in the filter.  After waiting 20 min or so, it will start up and run for another 10 to 15 min - then the same thing happens.  Is there some sort of safety that shuts the engine down if it gets hot?? or something else

Thanks for your help

Sometimes they get a vapor lock check to make sure that the gas cap is venting ok,try loosening it and see what happens.there is a safety switch that will shut the engine down when the engine gets low on oil or gets really hot. From what you are saying the engine isn't getting hot unless the oil is low check to see if the oil is full and then make sure the carb is clean it may need to be taken apart and cleaned.

Thanks
