Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): how to fix starter cord on rototiller, starter cord, rototiller

Question
I was using the rototiller and it was working fine.  it ran out of gas, so I turned it off to fill it.  I then tried to start it but the starter cord will not budge.  Is there and suggestions on how i can get the starter cord to pull out again?

Thanks

michelle

Answer
I have a suggestion but you aren't going to like it. Remove the starter housing from the engine and give it a pull. Works now doesn't it.

I'm guessing your engine is seized and when it died it wasn't because it was out of fuel (gas is what my dad gets when he eats at Taco Bell). Running out of fuel will not make a starter not work.

Pull of the starter housing and try to turn the flywheel (the cast iron thing with "fins" on it). If it turns I don't have a clue what's wrong. If it doesn't, and it won't, it's time for a new engine.

Sometimes asking "the Truthmeister" hurts.
