Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere 345, john deere 345, first 30 minutes

Question
I purchased a used 1996 John Deere 345 in the fall of last year with about 800 hours on it.  I did not run it more than about 15 minutes last year and it seemed to run fine before putting it away for the winter.  This spring, it runs alright for the first 30 minutes and then seems to be starving for fuel.  When I try to keep it running after 30 minutes I finally need to choke it to keep it running.  Although cleaning the carb, blowing out the gas line and replacing the fuel filter seemed to help alittle, the problem remains.  I think the fuel pump may need to be replaced.  Does this make sense or is there something else that I should try first that is less expensive?

Answer
Since this is a 2 cylinder tractor and it completely dies we can rule out the coils. If you are SURE!!! you cleaned the carb and tank and lines and filter well, I MEAN WELL! You probably need a TDC (Time delay control) module.

Go to your dealer and ask for a TDC module. He will know what you mean (common problem) it will cost about 18.00.

If this doesn't fix it you will need an ignitor box. They list for about 120.00.

FYI.... It's not the fuel pump. A fuel pump either works or it doesn't. Time is not a factor.
