Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler skip, sears riding mower, kohler engines

Question
Have a sears riding mower with a Kohler CV22S engine.  The engine runs rough at mid rpm range.  Replaced magnetos, ignition module, spark plugs, one lifter and still have problem.  Can pull plug wire on one side and engine runs the same.  If I pull plug wire on other side it does cause a difference in idle.

Answer
Hello Paul:

Check the Compression and the Valve Clearance on the Dead Cylinder. The Carburetor and The Valve Clearance can cause this Type of Problem. Is the Valve Clearance Set Correctly? The Intake should be .004in - .006in Intake and .008in - .010in Exhaust. If the Valve Clearance is Correct, then the Carburetor May Need Cleaning or the fuel Shut Off Solenoid May be Causing the Problem. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Kohler Engines). Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Then Select the File you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
