Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs&Stratton motor, briggs stratton, altenator

Question
Hello, i have a Yardman DLX hydrostatic deluxe riding lawn mower, motor # YBSXS.7242VF....# 274844.. I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH IT KEEPING A CHARGE..I TOOK THE COVER OFF THINKING IT HAD A ALTENATOR,WHEN I TOOK THE COVER OFF, IT LOOKED LIKE THE ALTENATOR WAS THE ENGINE, PLEASE HELP. IS THIS SOMETHING I CAN FIX MYSELF . OR IS THIS AGAIN SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A ARM AND A LEG TO HAVE FIXED?NICE MOWER'S,BUT THEY BREAK DOWN ALOT, AND THIS IS 1 THATS TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF, PLEASE HELP!

Answer
Hello Dan:

The Stator (Alternator/Charger) is Located Under the Flywheel. Remove the Flywheel Nut and Attach a Steeering Wheel Puller to the Flywheel. Tighten the uller and then Hit the Puller. Repeat this Process Until the Flywheel Pops Up or Loosens. Then Lift the Flywheel from the Crankshaft. You Now have Access to the Stator. Briggs Does Not Offer a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine for Online Viewing. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
