Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Verify model and type, deere dealer, type numbers
QuestionI have a John Deere Sabre 14.542GS, the engine cover only has a label that says "Family YBSXS.5012VP 274826". I need some engine parts, can you tell me what the model and type numbers are for this motor?

The good news is that replacement parts for this engine are readily available from your Deere dealer and will be cheaper than buying them from the engine manufacturer. Deere buys so many parts that they actually purchase them cheaper than your parts distributor can. Every step in the supply chain has to make a profit. Distributor and Deere mark the parts up the same amount. Since Deere pays less the end price is less.
