Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kawasaki FH721V engine valve adjustment, engine valve adjustment, compression stroke

Question
I have a Husqvarna 6125ZTR mower with Kawasaki FH721V engine.  I have the valve adjustment specs (.003-.005). Is this with the engine hot or cold?  Also, what procedure must I follow to correctly adjust the valves (ie crankshaft position or timing marks)?  Thank you.

Answer
You need to adjust the valves cold.
I could lay the hold technical procedure on you but it really isn't required.
Remove the plugs. Rotate the crankshaft until the intake valve goes down, now adjust the exhaust valve. Repeat the procedure for the intake valve. Rotate the crank until the exhaust valve is down. Now adjust the intake valve. Repeat this procedure for the other side.
The technical answer is that you need to adjust the valves at top dead center of the compression stroke.
