Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): stall, self propelled lawnmower, hp engine

Question
I have a craftsman self propelled lawnmower w/ a honda 5.5 hp engine, it is about 4 years old, it sat idle for 2 years, but before I let it sit I drained all gas burned off any remaining, took out spark plug and added a little oil in spark plug orafice, replace spark plug and covered unit for 2 years.  This season I fill tank with fresh gas and try to start it, it runs for 2-3 seconds and stalls, I verify choke is closed when starting, all linkage OK.  After numerous times trying to start I replace spark plug, air filter, and try agian, same result. I now spray gumout carb cleaner in carb, same result, just will not keep running.  Any suggestions?? Thanks,
Rich F.

Answer
Hello Rich:

Make Sure the Gas is Free Flowing to the Carburetor Inlet Port. If it is, then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install a New Kit if Required. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
