Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Fuel Leak, seat kits, fuel leak

Question
I just had my Craftsman 6.5 hp rotary lawn mower serviced at a shop.  They did
a general tune-up with a carb job.  I got home, and it leaks fuel from the air
filter.  I took it back to the shop and they said it had something to do with the
float and said that dirt gets in there and causes it to overflow.  They tapped on
the carburetor and said I should be good to go.  I got it home, and it STILL leaks!
Am I being ripped-off?  What should I do?

Answer
Hello Christy:

Something Doesn't Sound Right. Usually with a New Kit the Leaking by the Needle and Seat Shouldn't Start for a Year or Two. I had a Couple of Questioners a Few Weeks Ago  that had the Same Problem and the New Needle and Seat was Defective. With you having the Same Problem, there May be a Problem with the Needle and Seat Kits that the OEMs are Not Aware of. Take the Mower Back and Politely Ask for Another New Needle and Seat to be Installed in the Carburetor. It is Possible to Have the Leak Occur Early like yours Has, But it is Used to be Rare.  Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
