Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Gas leaking out, snapper riding lawn mower, gas tank

Question
I have a Snapper riding lawn mower.  I haven't use the mower for quite some time and I think it need to be worked on.  When I put some gas in the gas tank, the gas started leaking out. My neighbor seems to think that the carburetor is the cause of the gas leaking.  If this is the case, how much you think it would cost to get it fixed?

Answer
Hello Cheryl:

From your Description, it Sounds like the Carburetor Needs to be Cleaned and Rebuilt. The Cost for this Repair Varies with Location. Just to Rebuild the Carburetor in my Area is $35.00 Plus the Carburetor Kit. However, I Would Say from the Mower Not Being Used for Some Time that the Cost to Make the Mower Run Proper will be in the Range of Approximately $120.00, Provided you Deliver the Mower to the Shop. More if Pick Up and Delivery Charges are Required. If you Clean and Rebuild the Carburetor Yourself, then the Cost will be Parts Only. Approximately $20.00 for the Parts. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
