Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Where is the battery in a Simplicity Riding Mower??, dash board, pole barn

Well, my grass is getting long and I thought I would fire up my older Simplicity Allis Chalmers riding mower which worked fine when I parked it in the pole barn last fall.  It will not start, or even try to turn over.  I wanted to check the battery but I CAN'T FIND IT.  My mower is taken apart and waiting for an answer.  I feel foolish but what can I do but ask.  Thanks for your help.

Can you see the starter on the engine?  If so, follow the battery cable from starter, to the solenoid and then to the battery.

Over the years batterys have been placed behind the dash board, under the seat and even tucked away under the fender.

Let me know if following the cable helps locate the battery.
