Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ignition Harness, safety switches, key switch

I have a 17 year old Craftsman 18 HP Garden Tractor.  I have worked hard to
keep it in good running shape, but for the second time, the Ignition Harness has
burned itself out.  I have contacted Sears about part 121478X and they tell me it
is unavailable.  Do you have any ideas on how I might find a replacement part or
simple fix?  I hate to junk a good tractor for such a simple part.

Can you make your own harness?

How many safety switches are on the tractor?  I'm guessing three.

Remove the key switch and see if it has any letters next to the terminals.
Let me know how many switches, the number of terminals on the switch and the letters next to the terminals.
Also, send me the model number of the tractor.
