Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B/S 19.5 hp turbo cool engine trouble, craftsman riding mower, briggs stratton

Question
I have a Craftsman riding mower with a 19.5 hp Briggs & Stratton, model 42E707, Type 1631 01, code 9706235A and there is a power drain on the battery.  I replaced the battery and it ran fine for about 30 minutes then the power drain began again.  It barely had enough power to run and when you engaged the blade the mower shut down.  The new battery is now completely dead.  I have done all the yearly maintenance and checked the new battery to make sure it is good and it is.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hello Cindy:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was in the Question Pool. From your Description I Suggest you Check the Voltage. It Sounds like the Stator (Charger) isn't Working or the Voltage Regulator (if this engine has one) is Bad. Use a Multimeter and Check the Voltage at the Battery with the Engine Running at Full Throttle. It Should be 12.8VDC - 14.8VDC. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
