Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere transmission, john deere transmission, drive pulley

John, while changing the drive belt on my JD Sabre 1742, I noticed that the drive pulley on top of the transmission has quite a bit of play in it. Is this normal? I went to the Deere parts catalog but could not determine if there should be any play in the shaft to pulley fit.

There is Usually Some Minute Play in this Pulley. However, Not Excessive Play. You Say Quite a Bit, Therefore I Suggest you Remove the Pulley and Inspect the Shaft and the Pulley for Wear. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
