Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman LT1000 Lawn Tractor, craftsman lt1000 lawn tractor, proper manuals

Question
This unit is about 3 years old and has been sitting in my garage for about 2 years. Inherited from my 85 year old dad, it is too big for my yard. Now I want to sell it and can't get it started. It's a 17.5 HP B&S OHV engine. I jumped the battery, checked the spark plug and it wouldn't fire. I put Gumout in the intake and it fires and runs great for about 3-4 seconds. After the Gumout burns out, the engine dies. Seems like a blockage in the fuel line. I tried fresh fuel and checked the gas filter. The filter is clear and gas runs through easily. Does that leave me with the carb needing cleaned? If so, how do I get it off? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Rick:

Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower or the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. You are Correct. The Carburetor Needs to be Removed, Disassembled and Soaked Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install New Kit. I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown/IPL for you to View Online Also. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
