Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Deere smokes after 30 seconds running, john deere lt155, oil seeps

Question
My lawn tractor, a 2001 John Deere LT155 with a 15 HP Kohler engine emits
smoke from the front of the mower about 30 seconds after I start it and the
smoke lasts maybe a minute.  The longer the mower sits between uses the
more it smokes.  Sitting a few hours will result in less smoke that sitting a
week.  It doesn't seem to use much oil. It's hard to describe the smoke's
color, probably a little blueish but not real dark.  Is this something to be
concerned about?  Easy and cheap to fix ?

Whats happening when the mower sits for a certain amount of time is oil seeps in the area of the piston. The oil comes from gravity oozing past the rings. You said is a 2001 model what was done to the engine? Any work the rings usually will start to wear out due to normal use and any kind of dirt ingestion from the air cleaner, sometimes it can't be helped, When it starts using allot of oil I would think about a motor job.Keep a eye on the oil you may want to add a little bit if marvel mystery oil.

Thanks
