Do you have a 12 volt test light.
If not go to the local parts store and then I can help you.
No mater what if you don't have a test light all we can do is guess.
Your problem could be anything from a seized idler on the deck, to failed PTO clutch.
If you don't want to buy a test light and you want my first guess buy a pto switch Deere part number am118802 24.50 list.
Unfortunately LX172 pto clutches are just now starting to fail #am122969 105.00 list price.
