Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton 31C707 Valve Settings, craftsman riding mower, briggs stratton

Question
I have a craftsman riding mower and I have replaced some gaskets and need to ensure my valve settings are correct as it will not start and I think that is where I messed up. Do you know what the settings are and how I can measure them? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Matt:

Set the Engine to TDC. Using a Blade Style Feeler Gauge Set the Intake Valve Clearence to .002in - .003in and the Ehaust Valve Clearance to .008in - .010in. Hope this Helps. The Gap you are Seting is Between the Valve Stem Top and the Rocker Arm. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
