Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro 880 riding lawn mower, starter fluid, ipl

QUESTION: I inheirated a toro 880 riding lawn mower, and cant find any information on it.  I dont even know how old it is.  I have been trying to start it, I get a spark, but it does not start.  Any Ideas?  Or where I can get info on this?  thank for your time

Have you Tried Using Starter Fluid or Pouring a Small Amount of Gas (Approx 1oz) Into the Carburetor Throat. Depending on How Long it has Been Since the Engine was Run; the Carburetor May Require Cleaning and Rebuilding. The Engine Should Start and Quit if you Use Starter Fluid or the Gas. There May be a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower and Engine at this Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm. If you are Unable to Locate the Breakdown/IPL, then Send me the Model and Serial Numbers and I May be Able to Locate the Manuals for you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. QUESTION: That site for the model just goes into an error mode.  The model is 880 and Serial # 55166 400761.  Would love to see the schematic on this machine.

QUESTION: ok, went to that site, and it shows the 55166 then the 880 but the serial numbers dont match, and its says electric mower.  the serial number on the one I have  is 400761

OK. I went and Looked at All the Sites that Carry Toro and they All have the Same Model and Serial Numbers, and Are All Showing Electric Riders. I will Talk to my Contact at Toro and Ask about this Mower and Send a Follow Up ASAP Today or Tomorrow. Thanks for the Update.

Hello Again Jayne:

I Spoke with a Toro Technician. This is a Series 880, Model 55166, with a Serial Number Above 399999. The 1973 Series went Into Over-Run Production and a Few of the 1773 Models had Serial Numbers Above 399999. Use the 55166 Model with the 300000 to 399999 Serial Numbers. It is the Same Mower.
