Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): drive belt, riding lawn mower, 2 nuts

Question
My S-82 riding lawn mower that is over 21 years old has never had the drive belt change and has trouble going up hill with hesitation.  I would like to change the drive belt.  How do I change the drive belt?

Answer
Pull off the mower and take a look.
If you can get the deck off, 6 pins and 2 nuts, you can handle the drive belt. It's really obvious. Replace the drive idler while you're there. It's 20 yrs. old just like the belt. Shoot live dangerously and replace the deck belt also. Don't forget to flip the deck over and sharpen the blade while you are there.

If you can't figure out the deck removal on your own just by looking at it you can't handle the drive belt replacement.
Call your Deere dealer should be about 2 hrs. labor and 50.00 dollars for parts (2 belts and 1 idler)
Keep in mind you have an S82. It will soon get to the point that if you can't fix it yourself you can't afford to keep it.

I'm of offended by the low rating. Don't judge until you try my advise. Did you do what I said. Did you even look before you asked the question.
1 remove mower deck.
2. remove belt guide on left side of transmission sheave.
3. engage clutch/brake and lock.
4. remove idler
5. remove belt.
installation is opposite of removal.
