Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Fuel, pc troubles, hp motor

Question
I have a tecumseh 10 hp motor on a rear engine craftsman rider. I am priming by pouring gas into the top of the carb and it start momentarily then dies. Is there a fuel filter I need to change? How do I clean our the carb?

Answer
 Hello Perry:

Sorry for the Delay. I've been having PC Troubles. Since you have a Tecumseh Engine; I have a Site Addy that will Assist you Also. The Addy is http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf Also, Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown/IPL that will Show the Carburetor in Breakdown/IPL Form for you to View Online and this will Assit you in the Carburetor Rebuild. Is the Gas Free Flowing to the Carburetor Inlet Port? If Yes, then the Carburetor needs to be Removed, Disassembled and Soaked Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install New Kit. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
