Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): please help, kawasaki manual, jumper wires

what's up paul i talked to u yesterday about johndeere gx75 with kawasaki fc290v engine.looking more on the spark i found out that it is not really getting spark i tried spark tester hooked to wire and plug in engine got spark but i took out spark plug and put it against metal and turned switch it don't spark it has a primary terminal on coil i even put finger on end and turned switch but it won't shock. also since u won't tell me how to bypass switches could u tell me what wires u use to make jumper wires.thanks for your answers u really r humorus.

Look between the engine and the firewall for a white wire.
It will be hard to see and hard to get to(not a lot of room there) unplug the white wire (find a 5 year old, their arm will fit)  this will isolate the engine from the tractors wiring harness. If you now have spark U know the prob is with the tractor. No spark means engine ignition system.
The engine has a coil, under fan shroud, and an ignitor, between engine and fire wall. No reliable test for either component. The Kawasaki manual says to test with a known good unit. Since you don't have either of those laying around go with the ignitor first. At my dealership we stock 4 ignitors but 0 coils.
Paper clips make good diagnostic jumper wires.
