Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 14.5 hp Briggs & Stratton fuel leak, briggs stratton, hp briggs

Question
With a full fuel tank, fuel leaks into the cylinder and engine won't start. Cylinder is full of fuel when removing spark plug. After draining and turning over engine to blow out excess gas, engine runs fine. Is ther some valve stuck open. I installed an in-line fuel shut-off as a temporary fix.

Answer
You have a stuck needle or a float that won't float in the carb.
Cleaning the carb will fix the problem.
I personally recomend using a fuel shutoff valve all the time (Harley riders have been doing it for years)
If the engine is a Kohler you'll probably have to buy a carb, under 100.00.
Good Luck
