Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton, briggs stratton, dual coil

Question
Model 286707 12.5 hp  It has a dual coil system, one for DC to charge the
battery and one AC to run lights.  What is the proper voltage to measure at the
outpoint connector?  I have measure 11.5 v DC and 10.4 v AC.  Engine at
moderate speed, not racing.

Answer
 Hello Doug:

The Voltage should be 12.8 VDC at Mid RPM and 13.6 VDC at the Battery. The Output from the Stator to the Regulator should be About 15.8 to 16.6 VDC or Higher at Full Throttle . If the DC Voltage is Correct, then the AC Voltage will be Correct. If the DC Voltage is Not Correct, then Replace the Stator or the Regulator. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
