Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 4hp Briggs Starts Only on Starting Fluid, carbuerator, 4 digits

Question
Hi-
Thanks in advance for whatever advice you can provide. I have 2 walk-behind mowers and both are doing the same thing. They will run for a couple seconds with either starting fluid or pushing the 'prime button.' I changed the plug and the gas. Pulled the carbuerator on one and the filter at the end of the feed arm was fine where it goes into the tank.

I got a diaphragm but don't know where it goes; was told you don't have to pull the carbuerator to install but I can't see where it would go otherwise. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer
 Hello Ranger:

Send me the Model and Type Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. I can Also Locate a Breakdown/IPL for you to View Online. There are Different Carburetors on Mowers and the Model Numbers will Help me Locate the Type of Carburetor on this Engine. Thanks.

 Respectfully

 John

 Hi Ranger:

I saw your Post and wanted you to know; I Require the 5 or 6 Digit Model Number and Type Code Off the Engine, Please. The Type Numbers are 4 Digits with a - and 01 or Something like 1842-01. Also I take 10 Questions a Day and for My time Zone(Eastern US) the New Day Starts at 8pm. Thanks.

 Hello Ranger:

I Did some Investigating on the Letters and Numbers you Emailed Earlier. They are the Correct Model and Type Numbers. Briggs has Not Released these Breakdown/IPLs for OnlineViewing. They have the Manual Online for Purchase. I Just Ordered One Myself as it Seems I May Require it Before they Allow Online Viewing of it. Go to this Addy http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0&... and Enter the Model Numbers/Letters YBSXS and the Type Numbers 1581 and Click Search. The Next PAge has the Manual for Purchase. I Apploigize for the Confusion. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
