Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro Lawnmower want start, toro lawnmower, toro mower

I bought a used Toro mower from a friend very cheap because of a Divorce and wife did not want mower. He said it was in his wife garage for about 8 months without being used. took it home, oil level was good, didn't have gas. In fact it was bone dry. Put gas in it and primed it and it starts but only for about 3 to 5 seconds and dies. I have checked the spark plug and it is good but it will not stay running.
It is the Toro 6.5 HP Recycler

 Hello Tim:

 The Carburetor Needs to be Cleaned and Rebuilt. You can Locate a Breakdown/IPL for the Mower at this Addy http://www.honda-engines-eu.com/en/service/spareparts/heepartscatalogue/index.js... and Select the Model and Type. Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner(I use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install New Kit. Hope this Helps.
