Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper mod RP21500 ser 45104656, briggs stratton, coil wire

Question
Hi John, I used to work on small engines when I was a kid. I'd like ot know if I missing something here.
Symptom is motor does not start, no evidence of spark.

Briggs&Stratton Model 128802 Type 0211-01  Code 94050458
I have drained gas and refilled with fresh.
I have replaced spark plug.
I have metered the magneto which appeared to indicate 1-2 volts on a 50v DC scale. This does not seem adequate.  Spark plug produces no spark when grounded against head and motor is spun.
Bad magneto? Something shorting it?
Mower ran fine last season.

Thx in advance for any suggestions.

Answer
 Hello Jeff:

Remove the Coil Wire from the Shut Off Switch and then Check for Fire at the Plug. With the Shut Off Wire Disconnected, the Coil will be Free of the Shut Off Switch and Eliminate the Switch and the Coil as the Cause of the Problem. If the Coil Doesn't Fire the Coil with the Wire Disconnected, then the Coil is Bad. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Addy http://snapper.com/# and Select Publications at the Top Right of the Page. Then Select the Model (Scroll Down Almost to the Bottom of the Model List). Then Select the Manual you wish to View Online. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
